Shining Star Recognized at Bi-Monthly Upstate Workforce Development Board Meeting

Nikki Burgess, ResCare Talent Development Specialist (TDS) for SC Works Greater Upstate for Union County recently received the 2018 Star of the Year Award for her outstanding work at the Upstate Workforce Development Board (UMB) bi-monthly meeting. UWB Director Ann Angermeier recognized Nikki at the meeting for her outstanding work during the program year (July 2018 – June 2019) in the counties of Cherokee, Spartanburg, and Union.

During this time period, Nikki not only successfully moved the SC Works office from Main Street to the newly refurbished Union Carnegie Library, but also exceeded her enrollment and training goals. The move was no easy task as it involved the relocation of files and equipment, constant communication with the public, re-evaluating services offered and determining how the Center could provide better assistance to the public. “The award is well-deserved,” said SC Works Greater Upstate Project Director Douglas Stephenson.

“We appreciate Nikki’s can-do attitude and willingness to consistently go over and above the call of duty!”
