SC WORKS Midlands Providing Golden Opportunities at Healthcare Hire-A-Thon

Clients of SC WORKS Midlands received a golden ticket to wonderful job opportunities in the healthcare industry upon attending the Healthcare Hire-A-Thon in Columbia, South Carolina.
Eight different ready-to-hire employers met with participants seeking positions in a variety of health-related fields, such as nursing, caregiving, client care coordination and public safety. Project Director Amy Tate said, “A week prior to the event, we held a three-day healthcare job readiness workshop. There was a total of eight attendees. Participants received an updated resume, learned interviewing skills and soft skills which included overcoming negativity in the workplace and tips to retain employment.”
Attendees with perfect attendance over the three-day period received a “Golden Resume” printed on golden paper. The “Golden Resume” recipients were guaranteed an interview with each of the eight employers in attendance. “The healthcare employers in this area have a high demand for staffing. We train for Patient Care Technicians/Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), Medical Office Support Staff, Pharmacy Technicians and Dental Assistants. Since healthcare is one of our local supported sectors, this was a perfect match,” Amy added.
