Equus Celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month!

Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to pay tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society. As we celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, we would like to honor and recognize the contributions of our employees in Puerto Rico who are creating opportunities and changing lives in the communities they serve.

Tomás Torres has been with the Arecibo Job Corps Center since October 2000, where he began working as a Residential Counselor. His hard work has paid off during his time at the Center, and since then, he has worked in many different roles, including Center Standards Incentive Officer and now as the Case Evaluator Manager. Tomás always works with his team to offer students the best services possible. He has had to overcome many challenges, including the Center’s closure following Hurricane Maria in 2017. However, he always manages to provide students with security and the tools they need to continue their education. Tomás is also the Head Pastor of his church, where he spends his free time helping church members and the community during the pandemic.

Thank you for your service, Tomás!
