A Success Story: Following the Family to Success

Steven Acevedo working in a factory setting

Following in your family’s footsteps is not always easy to do. However, thanks to the success experienced by his mother and sister at the Ramey Job Corps Center, Steven Acevedo knew it would be a good decision. Steven’s mother, Evelyn Lloret, graduated from Ramey and is the Center’s Administrator Assistant, and his sister completed the Medical Office Technician program. Adding to his family’s success, Steven also graduated and received his high school diploma from Ramey. While there he participated in various committees and was part of the Center’s basketball team. He also completed electrical training and the Solar Energy Advanced program while at Ramey. Steven is currently employed by Three O Construction, S.E. Company, a contractor for construction rehabilitation projects for Puerto Rico, including projects for the U.S. Coast Guard near the Ramey Job Corps facilities. His outstanding performance at Three O has helped create opportunities for other Ramey Job Corps students. As Steven looks towards the future, he is planning to enroll at the University of Puerto Rico to pursue a bachelor’s degree in engineering focusing on Renewal Energy.
