Equus Celebrates the Season of Giving with Donations to Charitable Causes for Those Less Fortunate
To celebrate the season of giving, Equus recently donated over $34,000 to Feeding America and Toys for Tots.
For 40 years, Feeding America has responded to the hunger crisis in America by providing food to people in need through a nationwide network of food banks. Feeding America is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization—a powerful and efficient network of 200 food banks across the country. As food insecurity rates hold steady at the highest levels ever, the Feeding America network of food banks has risen to meet the need. We feed 40 million people at risk of hunger, including 12 million children and 7 million seniors. Every dollar donated to Feeding America helps secure and distribute 10 meals to people facing hunger.
Toys for Tots, a 70-year national charitable program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, provides happiness and hope to disadvantaged children during each Christmas holiday season. The toys, books, and other gifts collected and distributed by the Marines offer these children recognition, confidence, and a positive memory for a lifetime. It is such experiences that help children become responsible citizens and caring members of their community. Last year the Marine Corps fulfilled the holiday hopes and dreams of 7 million less fortunate children in 792 communities nationwide. Since 1947 over 244 million children have been assisted.
Equus President Mark Douglass said, “These donations will positively impact the lives of many families who are less fortunate and struggling during the holiday season and give them hope for the future. These contributions would not be possible without our wonderful employees.”
